Alex's Column
5/24/06
Gah! I have had it. I hereby proclaim the date to be
June 8th. There.
Done.
What? Fuck, I was hoping that would work. Unfortunately for
me, instead
of relaxing after finishing 9...HEY! NINE!... AP tests, I instead have to
catch up in most classes, write a five page English paper, write a god knows
how long chem paper (with little help from my group...damn hamburgers and
their tastiness), work on the crime lab, work on the Bypass documentary,
work on the 60's documentary, write a poem and create a slideshow, write a
paper for, explain this one... calculus, translate a Spanish essay about the
movie "Babe", work 25-30 hours a week, and fill out endless amounts of
paperwork for various things.
Worst of all, I do all of this at the expense of my social life. One movie
and two lan parties in the last month and a half to two months. Too
fucking
long. Hear me? Too long.
18 days... as of this writing, who knows when this will be posted. Maybe I
should get a live journal? We'll see how that works out.
JUNE 8 2006...THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT.
This years end of the year bash at Jimmy's will be top
notch...or heads
will roll. I place Ben in charge of the weather, so if it is shitty, it is
his fault.
JUNE 10 2006...THE JOINT PARTY...OF DOOM!
If still living, Tristan and I will host a party not soon forgot.
But,
unfortunately, this joint party involves no joints.
JUNE 11 2006...THE WORST MISTAKE EVER
Sending our senior class into the world? WTF are they
thinking? Also,
Tim's party, be sure to swing by.
JUNE 12 2006...BLAME CANADA
Ben, Jimmy and myself head off to the great white north...or
wherever we
end up. This trip is promising, and hopefully no one will get alcohol
poisoning.
JUNE 18 2006ish...THE TRIUMPHANT RETURN
I return, and hopefully Ben and Jimmy will still be living
and concious
enough to return with me.
So, in closing, GET ME THE FUCK OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL!!!!
And, I need to hang with the sentry crew...approximately now.

A note on patriotism...
Support our troops
It's such a wonderful phrase. You can't disagree, because those men and
women are overseas fighting for our freedom. But do we actually do
anything
to support them? What have we sacrificed here on the homefront for this
"Global War on Terror"? The only "sacrifice" we've
made is paying higher
gas prices. We aren't fighting a war for our freedom, because if we really
were, we would be actually supporting our troops, not just sticking magnets
and bumper stickers all over the place. So if we aren't fighting for
freedom, what are we fighting for? This is why we aren't making
sacrifices.
Because if we had rationing like in previous wars, we would want a good
reason for it. And there has been no good reason given to us yet for this
"war". WMDs? A lie. Free the Iraqi people?
What have we freed them from?
Sadaam? True, he was a horrible monster, but if we say we were
freeing
the Iraqis, what does that say to the people of the Sudan? Or Cambodia?
Since when has the US cared about genocidal dictators? In the seventies we
put one of the most murderous dictators ever into power, General Pinochet of
Chile. But that was in the name of stopping communism. And after the
fear
mongering of McCarthyism in the fifties, we would do anything to stop
communism. Here's a partial list of countries where we have put
non-democratic leaders into power or supported, or where we removed
democratically elected leaders from their position: Grenada, Panama,
Chile,
Iran, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Afghanistan. Why are we doing these
things? Are all of these countries such a threat to our freedom that we
need to put totalitarian regimes in power? Why would we do such things? It
seems as if we feel we are better than everyone else. It must be true if
everyone says "Support our troops", even though we are taking the
freedom
from the citizens of other nations just to "protect" our freedoms.
Now is
when you, the reader, are getting mad at me. Why? Because I just
said it
is wrong to support our troops. And it might be. Most people would
agree
that it would be wrong to support the Nazis, but they were Germany's troops.
People who supported them were sent to trial and prison for it.
True,
they did help slaughter 6 million people, but shouldn't we stop ourselves
before we go to far? We have all seen the pictures of Abu Ghraib prisoner
abuse and have heard of the alleged torture at Guantanamo Bay. But do we
do
anything? No. Why should we? These aren't soldiers, they are
guerillas.
They have no uniform and attack by surprise. They don't deserve the Geneva
Convention. But wait... those tactics sound familiar... who else fought
like that? Vietnam? Sure they did, but who else? Oh yeah, that's
right,
us. All throughout our war for independence we used guerilla warfare and
underhanded tactics. One of our greatest victories, the Battle of Trenton,
was a surprise attack on the morning after Christmas, violated many of the
assumed "rules" of war at the time. But did the British torture
our men?
Of course not! That would be barbaric! No civilized country would
ever
torture anyone! Oh wait, my bad, we torture people. And what for?
We go
into their country in the early 90's and LEAVE SADAAM IN POWER. No wonder
these people hate us. We could have taken care of this ten years ago!
But
instead we leave him, and while there we accidentally upset a former
communist-fighting friend of ours, Osama Bin-Laden. But he's not important
right now. What is important is why we are fighting all of these wars.
Or
staging all of these coups. One reason. And that is money.
Money, the
force behind our way of life. And, at the root of many of these money
wars,
is oil. Money for oil. Specifically, we want a stable source of
cheap oil.
So why aren't we asked to make sacrifices for this war? It's
because it
is for corporate profit. Because even if they can start to get cheaper
oil,
we won't see any cheaper gas. So why support our troops? If you truly
want to support them, bring them home. Because right now, they may as well
be corporate mercenaries.
Oh yeah, and one more thing. Those freedoms they are protecting?
Better
watch out, because the number one threat to our freedoms today isn't Sadaam
or Bin-Laden. It's us. And our paranoia. And those who we
elect. The
Republicans who use our fear to gain our support. And then use the power
we
give them to entrench themselves in power. Beware readers, because its not
the Muslims you need to worry about. It's the Christian right and their
corporate friends.

Ah, spring break comes to an end. This was an overall good
break, but it
could have been better. First, how it was good.
1. Weather was 80's and sunny every day
2. Mini golf rocks
3. So do beaches
4. Saw my grandparents for the first time in years
5. My grandfather will probably last longer than the doctors thought
6. No school
And now, the bad.
1. I should really do my calc and physics homework
2. Was with my family the entire week
3. No fun parties
4. Too much time in a car
5. Came back to shitty weather
6. Had to travel through the bible belt.
So, during this wonderfull break from school I thought of many, many things
to put here. And naturally I forgot what most of them were. So I'lll
just
start rambling now and we'll see where it goes.
I love french toast. And seeing as I ate breakfast for about 50% of the
meals on this trip, that is alot of french toast. And bacon. But it
doesn't matter, I'll eat french toast and bacon any time. Like 2 am.
That
only happened twice though. But it was delicious.
During break I got almost zero exercise. And with my diet consisting of
burgers, fries, french toast, bacon, and eggs all the time, I actually
gained weight. Which is miraculous, I weigh more now than I ever have
before, which still isn't much, but still, it counts for something.
There are too many fucking churches in the south. Way too many.
Apparently
the total IQ south of the mason-dixon line is 5, and the only reason it is
positive is because there appears to be 8 doctors per old person in the
state of florida. And that is almost all of the permanent residents.
People that dumb need to be forbidden from voting
People cannot drive. None of them. I would keep going with this, but
the
horrendousness of their driving has left me speechless.
I saw V for Vendetta before I left, but never got around to writing about
it. Its a good movie, and also has a wonderfull message barely hidden in
there too. That message is that conservative christians are as bad as
hitler and will murder their own countrymen to make money and take over.
Sorta like Bush did. Except he just rigged an election and started
pointless wars. Alright, they do have points, but they are retarded, just
like the man who thought them up.
I am now on MySpace, which now saddens me because Sarah recently informed me
that Rupert Murdoch, champion of the conservative dribble known as fox news,
owns MySpace. I hate Rupert Murdoch.
It seems that america has a problem with illegal immigration. well weve
actually had this problem for a decade, but now people decided to start
cariing because those who do are dirty work have started wanting to have
some rights. no one seemed to care back when they just quitely cleaned our
towns and picked our food, but now it seems that the conservatives wants the
police and border patrol to start lynching any illegal immigrants. well
here is my solution: increase the border patrol, let those here stay as
citizens, send any new illegals back instead of keeping them here and trying
them, and stop telling the world that we are the land of opportunity.
apparently we stoped being the land where people went to be free and to
start over back in the mid 1900's. i guess the rest of the world didn't
get
the memo. boy the us gov. is a bunch of hypocrites. "we are the
land of
opportunity and freedom" they say. but they follow that with
"but keep your
asses out of our country". assholes.
We should be more like france. If the government does something we don't
like, we should force the leader into hiding and shut down the country for a
while. It seems Jaques Chirac is a bit more like Bush than he seems to be.
Though he opposed the war in Iraq, which I applaud him for, he is trying to
do away with France's socialist policies. And that is a very bad thing to
do. Because the french youth have realized that the socialist policies are
good, and that socialism and communism are good, despite what Bush and his
Gestapo say. And the reason that they realized that and the American youth
hasn't is for two reasons: one, the french have a better education system,
mainly because no child will be left behind if none are allowed to excel,
and two, american has been brainwashed for far too long with the notion that
everyone can become rich. Not everyone can be rich, because in capitalism
there are two classes, the working class, and the oppresive executives that
run this country and a few others while they are at it. the only reason
people like bush and his republican cronies were ever able to get into power
is that most americans are too dumb to realize that they have been lied to
all along. communism isnt bad. the tax breaks for the
rich will never
help you, because you will never be rich. There is no higher power
watching
over you, unless you count our own government, which becomes more
totalitarian with each passing day. So lets take a page from the french
and
actually have a shot at letting the people have the power, before its too
late.
Thats all for now, so until later, down with the religious right, and down
with the corporate beast.

Ah, senioritis. Yet another epidemic at WHS. And,
like last year, it seems
to strike hardest at the math classes. Take the AP Calc class for example.
Briana, Greg, and I rarely ever actually do an assignment. I get most of
the answers/work from Aidan, and Briana and Greg get it from Cassie. But
now even Cassie is falling victim. Which can only mean one thing:
Let's
play some Ultimate. It is march now, and spring is coming on strong.
The
snow is melting, and only one thing is on the mind of seniors: leaving. We
just stopped caring (or, in my case, never did). But now is the time to
have some fun. This is our senior year, lets enjoy it.
So now that I'm done being out of character, people really need to stop
complaining. If you complain every now and then, fine. But some
people
feel the need to complain about every-fucking-thing. Gee, too bad everyone
is talking about going to good schools next year, but guess what, saying
that somewhere is "good enough" doesn't make it true. And maybe
some people
are rejected from certain organizations on purpose. Also, shut the
fuck up
you whining bitches. I don't give a fuck about what you think, people can
have fun in class if we want. Talking in lab never hurt anybody.
Maybe
people complain because they think no one likes them. Or maybe because
they
feel overshadowed. Or maybe they are just too stupid to understand that
shit happens, and there is nothing you can do about it. So just deal with
it you whining little morons, and stop wasting my time.
On to politics:
Recently, the Wisconsin state legislature passed a constitutional amendment
banning gay marriage and civil unions. This just proves how hypocritical
the conservative right is. Saying that they are moral and spreading
democracy and freedom when they seek to deny rights to american citizens.
Gays are people too, and in my experience, less of assholes than other
people. Out of the few gay people I know, not one is a jerk. And yet
most
people who I know that are conservatives view these people as "wrong"
and
"evil", but the conservatives are some of the biggest assholes I know.
So
anyone who reads this and is of the voting age in Wisconsin, I urge you to
protect the rights of your fellow man and vote down this amendment.
I think thats enough for now, so be sure to tune in next time, same
bat-time, same bat-channel.

Behold my column... its greek... and it holds up a roof.
Why does everyone complain so much? I freaking hate it when people
complain. Especially about classes that may or may not be called Chem II.
So the class is hard. Deal with it. Know what else gets on my
nerves?
People who assume things about other people. Since when have I been hard
working? People keep asking me why I don't have straight A's, and act all
surprised when I tell them that I am LAZY. No one seemed to pick up on
that
fact before this year. And those health freaks and diet
"experts". I will
eat what I want when I want. I am capable of taking care of myself, and I
don't need anyone to tell me what to eat and how to exercise. What sort of
idiot actually believes that cutting carbs is the magic solution to weight
loss. I know the solution. Eat a BALANCED diet and get some freaking
exercise. Now that I am done with those, the three things that piss me off
the most, from #3 to #1: Religious fundamentalists, wal mart, and W.
God
do I hate them. Apparently it is O.K. for Pat Robertson to call for the
assassination of Hugo Chavez, but the Danes can't make fun of Islam. But
guess what? I can be controversial, too. Here we go:
1. There is no God. Get over it
2. Evolution is right. People and everything else didn't just appear.
3. People need to take an intelligence test before voting.
4. Gays are people too.
5. Church and State were separated for a reason.
6. Down with the system!
7. Wal Mart execs are a bunch of greedy, thieving, murderers.
8. Marx was right. Workers rise up, the time is now!
9. The Jews really need to stop their bitching. The holocaust is over.
10. Bush is a Nazi
And now to Mr. W. Why the fuck are we in Iraq with fake evidence when we
had plenty of real evidence to help people in Darfur. And the Bill of
Rights exists for a reason.
And Cheney, shooting your friends is just low.
And in closing,
I will eat whatever I want.
